Latest Reported Incident
Case File #GG-0047 / The Reality Revision
Gabe attended a project alignment meeting. Commitments were made in front of multiple colleagues. Suspect #4 was the project lead in the room. The meeting happened. The notes were taken. Several people remember it the same way.
The next week, Suspect #4 emailed Gabe to confirm one of the commitments in writing. He replied warmly. He suggested they take it offline.
Suspect #4 stopped by his office. There was no one else there. He thanked her for raising her concerns. He told her he really appreciated her bringing this to him. He then explained that the commitments she remembered being made were not, technically, commitments. They were directional alignment. He suggested the meeting notes had captured the energy of the conversation more than the substance of it.
Suspect #4 returned to her desk. She emailed Gabe a written summary of their conversation, in good faith. He replied warmly. He suggested they take it offline.
The next time the matter came up in a meeting, Gabe presented a different version of what had been agreed. Suspect #4 was in the room. She did not correct him. The meeting moved on.
Status: UNRESOLVED. Gabe accepted a "Strong Communication" commendation the following quarter. Suspect #4 has not raised the matter again. She is still close friends with Gabe's wife.
Behavioral Pattern
Why he gets away with it.
Gabe has identified that controlling the official record of what happened is more powerful than what actually happened. He rewrites commitments in real time. He revises meeting notes after the fact. He has cultivated a reputation for calm, reasonable communication that survives any specific allegation because it is structural, not situational.
Witnesses report that Gabe's revisions reliably arrive in the same shape. He never disagrees outright. He opens with how much he appreciates the issue being raised. He suggests the conversation move to a venue where minutes are not being taken. He emerges from that venue with a different version of events. The phrase "let's take this offline" has been logged in Gabe's communications at least eleven times in the past two years. In each case, the topic taken offline did not return to a meeting where notes were being kept.
Gabe also displays preferential treatment of select team members through unofficial channels. The kind of access, mentorship, and visibility that cannot be audited because they were never formally documented. The team members he selects for "mentorship" are consistently those whose continued silence would be most useful to him. The team members not selected have learned to characterize the patterns the same way the selected ones do.
Leadership finds him measured. His direct reports describe meetings where their own recollections began to feel unreliable within hours. His former team members are currently in therapy. His quarterly performance reviews remain "Exceeds Expectations."
He has never lost an argument. He has simply edited the ones he was losing.
HR Recommendation
Document everything. Timestamp your notes. CC your manager on all correspondence. Do not rely on verbal agreements. Do not accept "let's take this offline" as a response. Do not accept meeting summaries written by Gabe. Be cautious about any pattern of mentorship you cannot independently verify. If your recollection of a meeting differs from his summary, that is data, not error.
Do not trust Gabe.
NOTE: The individual who filed this report has since left the organization. So has their replacement.

/ Suspect #2
Suspect #2 outranks Gabe in the cross-functional hierarchy and operates the institutional levers that determine whose conduct receives scrutiny. Emergency all-hands meetings called by Suspect #2 reliably coincide with windows in which Gabe's conduct has been called into question. Suspect #2 has been confidentially informed of the personal entanglements documented in Gabe's file. He has not raised them.
Active
/ Suspect #6
Suspect #6 was the project architect of record on the work Gabe later claimed. She has independently corroborated Gabe's version of events across multiple disputed meetings. Her recollection often arrives in writing within hours of Gabe's. The phrasing tends to be identical. Suspect #6 has been seen exchanging knowing glances with Gabe at moments when a third party began describing an incident neither of them had directly attended.
Active
/ Suspect #13
Suspect #13 has been seen delivering pre-meeting briefings to Gabe shortly before strategy sessions. Gabe subsequently presents the briefed material as original analysis. Suspect #13 receives no public credit. She has not pushed back. Investigators note she stopped pushing back roughly two years ago, after a closed-door conversation with Gabe.
